Laser Rejuvenation Q & A

How does Aerolase Neo® laser rejuvenation work?

The Neo delivers laser energy in pulses using 650 Microsecond Technology™ for overall skin rejuvenation. During laser rejuvenation with the nonablative Aerolase Neo laser, Dr. Palakurthi uses the handpiece to deliver laser energy directly into problem areas.

The Neo laser is particularly well-suited for overall skin rejuvenation, removal of vascular lesions like spider veins, and removal of pigmented lesions like sun spots. It can also help with skin tightening and fine lines.

The precisely directed and timed laser pulses move directly into the target area with the pigment or vein without harming the surrounding skin or the skin above it. This precise targeting means that your surrounding melanin and deeper skin layers absorb minimal heat, and that, in turn, means a more comfortable experience for you.

Neo treatment is so comfortable that anesthesia and cooling devices aren't even needed. Recovery time is minimal, and you only need one treatment session.

How does Aerolase Era® laser rejuvenation work?

During Aerolase Era treatment, Dr. Palakurthi uses a high-precision Er:YAG laser for skin ablation. The gentle laser pulses vaporize damaged skin, leaving your undamaged skin below exposed. Dr. Palakurthi can use the Era laser in even the normally difficult-to-treat areas like the eye and nose areas.

The Era laser can minimize or remove:

  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Sun spots or other sun damage

Treatments with the Era laser can also reduce pore size.

As with the Neo laser, you can expect a comfortable treatment and minimal recovery time. Most patients get excellent results with just one Era laser treatment.

How can I prepare for laser skin rejuvenation?

Although laser skin rejuvenation with the Aerolase Neo or Era is gentle, you could potentially experience skin damage if you don’t prepare properly. Fortunately, preparation guidelines are easy to follow.

Some common guidelines are:

  • Don't use harsh scrubs
  • Avoid sun exposure
  • Stop smoking

Dr. Palakurthi gives you an exact timeline for each guideline, but in general the further in advance you can do these things the better. Dr. Palakurthi also gives you specific instructions regarding medication use prior to your laser skin rejuvenation. Usually, this includes temporarily discontinuing medications that can cause increased bleeding.
