Microneedling With PRP: The All-Natural Combo for Younger-Looking Skin

Has your face lost its luster? Do you look in the mirror and see dull, dry skin where there once was a soft, youthful glow? That’s what age and neglect can do. They’re a tough duo that can wreak havoc with your skin and make you look and feel older than you really are. Fight back with your own dynamic duo — a combination of two all-natural treatments: microneedling and PRP (plasma-rich platelet) therapy, the ideal combination for younger-looking skin.

Both men and women have skin issues that they’d like to fix. And at Star Laser in Troy and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, our expert team, led by Dr. Lakshmi Palakurthi, offers a variety of treatments, including the pairing of microneedling and PRP therapy, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, lines, spots, and scars.

The skin issues you want to treat

As you age, your skin loses vital collagen. This means that it doesn’t heal as quickly, and skin conditions like wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin, scars, and uneven skin tone and texture can look even more pronounced and obvious.

In addition, acne and acne scarring, alopecia, rosacea, and issues with the pigmentation of your skin can affect the way you look. Any of these conditions can also impact how you feel about yourself, so correcting them is extremely important. This is why Dr. Palakurthi chooses the treatments specifically for your needs and personally performs each and every one. This ensures they are done correctly and deliver the best results.

Understanding microneedling

The safe and minimally invasive treatment called microneedling is the first step in this double procedure. Your skin is actually pricked and injured, but the redness and irritation are minor and will subside in a few days, and there is no downtime. The natural response of your body is to heal and thus produce new collagen and healthy tissue, which is why this is also called a collagen treatment. The result can be the reduction or even elimination of your skin issues, and definitely the creation of younger, healthier-looking skin.

All about PRP

The second step is PRP (plasma-rich platelet) therapy, which has become well known because of the many high-profile athletes who have undergone the procedure to heal from their various injuries. It promotes healing, reduces inflammation, and may even stimulate hair growth.

A small amount of your own blood is drawn from your arm, and then Dr. Palakurthi uses the RegenKit® PRP to prepare the sample. After this, it’s placed in a high-speed centrifuge, where the platelets are separated. This natural and concentrated serum (5-10 times stronger than regular blood) is then injected into the injured areas, like the skin issues that need to be remedied. The growth factors speed up the healing process and stimulate healthy, new tissue growth.

Microneedling and PRP — A potent combo

The combination of these two treatments is also known as the Vampire Facial®, because it uses your own blood to help heal your skin conditions. Once the PRP is ready, the microneedling injects it into your skin. Using both procedures at the same time can make the production of collagen and elastin more efficient.

The whole process takes about an hour, and then you can go back to your regular daily activities. You may have some redness or irritation for a few days, but you’ll begin to see the results within a few weeks. The procedure can be repeated two-four times a year depending on your specific conditions and needs. We monitor your progress, and should you have any issues or concerns, we’re always available.

When you’re ready to get younger-looking skin, the combo of microneedling with PRP is the way to achieve this, and it’s a great way to use your own body to heal. Call us at either office or use the handy Request Appointment button here
